Felt Alive Core Wool Batting
the ORIGINAL ‘Core Wool’ for needle felting
$19.95 per 8 oz batt
Felt Alive’s Core Wool Batting for Needle Felting is natural off-white wool from mixed-breed sheep; a medium-short, crimpy fiber that is processed into thick, fluffy sheets (think of quilt batting.) It so much easier to handle than long, slick fiber you’ll find in more commonly available wool products like Merino Roving.
What is Core Wool? Basically, it’s any natural colored wool you want to use for the core parts of your needle felted creations instead of using more expensive dyed wool. When I first started needle felting there wasn’t any type of wool product called ‘core wool’. After trying many types of wool to use for the core of my creations, I stumbled upon the most amazing wool batting. It wasn’t the prettiest shade of off-white and it had a little bit of straw mixed in but OH was it easy, fast and fun to use! I was thrilled and started calling it ‘Core Wool’ in my video tutorials. I guess the name caught on because any search for core wool will bring up all kinds of different natural (non-dyed) wool.
This is THE ORIGINAL Felt Alive ‘Core Wool’ batting that I’ve been using since 2007. It’s the perfect wool to use for needle felting the core parts of your creations while saving your dyed wool for the outer layers. I use this batting to needle felt the core body parts in all of my Felt Alive dolls. It felts faster than any wool I have ever used and is so easy to form into shapes. You’ll see me using core wool in nearly all Felt Alive Needle Felting Tutorials. Watch for FREE HERE
